Who are the most influential Latino Americans? Portrait photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders has taken their pictures, which go on view this week at the Brooklyn Museum, Aug. 19-Dec. 11, 2011.

Eva Longoria, Sonia Sotomayor, John Leguizamo and Christy Turlington Burns all made the cut. In case you’re wondering, Turlington’s mother is from El Salvador.

The “Latino List” follows in the footsteps of the photographer’s “The Black List” project, which opened in 2008 at the Brooklyn Museum and has since traveled the country and spawned “volumes” two and three. The new collection depicts 25 successful Latino figures from the entertainment, political and business worlds, posing in front of flat gray backgrounds. To select his subjects, Greenfield-Sanders worked with the minority- and women-owned consulting firm D&P Creative Strategies.

Fifteen of the participants are interviewed by journalists for a documentary of the same name, debuting on HBO, Sept. 29, 2011, and at the Brooklyn Museum on Oct. 1. Others photographed for the exhibition include astronaut José Moreno Hernández, music producer Emilio Estefan, Jr., and his wife, Gloria Estefan, rapper Pitbull, civil rights activist Raul Humberto Yzaguirre, actress America Ferrara and journalist Giselle Fernandez.
